Angela,
This is the post I never wanted to write.
Ange passed away very peacefully at 8:35 on Friday night at the Christie Hospital two months short of her 43rd birthday. All her family were with her and even Dr Faiver-Finn, the best doctor ever in the best hospital, came back to work for her last hour.
This site has been a great source of information and comfort to me and I thank Deanne, Jimmy & all the other members for their support since Ange was prescribed Tarceva in September 2007. I have posted many times about Angela’s experiences, after taking that first tablet when she had difficulty walking upstairs she soon went back to a normal life, within two weeks she was back at work & going to the gym. Tarceva gave her the ability to travel; she went to Spain 3 times, Portugal, Hong Kong, Rome, Germany, Austria, New York, Egypt,Dominicann Republic & Barbados as well as many weekends away in this country.
When Angela was first diagnosed I rang friends to tell them the bad news, 5 girls reacted with the same sentence “But she’s my best friend” I think most people are happy to have one best friend, I know she was (is) my wife but she was (is) a very special person.
Angela was 41 years old when diagnosed, never smoked, had only the odd glass of wine, loved fruit for breakfast & went to the gym at least 5 times a week, its been said many times but its just not fair. She never complained & loved her life. I met her when we were both 12 years old in the same class at school, started dating when were 18, married at 23 and had our only child (Jordan) two years later. After over 19 years of marriage I love her as much today as the day we married & feel so proud to have been her partner.
I'll log in from time to time to offer advice to others based on our experiences, the fight goes on for others & I wish you all well.
Take Care
Duane
