Well after 20 months on Tarceva the drug has now stopped working after a scan in November showed progression of the cancer. All in all i still feel fine although i had a bad chest infection which i still have the remnants of . been to see the oncologist on friday going for another ct scan with a week or so they will then check that against novembers and see what happens from there. He did mention some new trial drugs but as they are not many people on 3rd line treatment who knows but fingers crossed. anyway the board has been quiet so hopefully things are all o.k with everyone else.

Hi Jim, I'm so sorry to hear that, your help & advice on Tarceva has been invaluable to us & many others I'm sure. As I posted the other day it's stopped working for Ange too. I'm sitting here waiting for the phone to ring as the Christie are going to get back to me today with Ange's 3rd line treatment, I'll post when I know what that is. Ange is breathless now but as of last Friday is fit for treatment.
Take Care Duane

Hi Jim, an hour after my last post Ange got taken to the local A & E. Breathing dreadful, I've spent all night there with her (staff were wonderful) & she's getting worse. I can't get over the fact we were in the Dominican 10 days ago looking forward to a few more months on Tarceva. Unless her breathing stabilizes I can't see her getting 3rd line, it's being treated as an infection, I just hope their right. Christies did ring yesterday & have made an appointment for Friday to start a new treatment, they want to see Ange before deciding on which one, again Alimta was mentioned. Take Care Jim Duane

Hi duane
how ironic because we coame back from the far eat and exactly the same happened to me with the breathing, has ange tried the steroids yet? they have certainly improved my breathing i would go as far as to say 75% improvement. i think it sounds as though we both have had the same ailment with the chest infection i have had mine for 2 months, Ange is strong she will pick up and hopefully start new treatment soon , i will let you know what drug they are going to try me on for 3rd line as soon as i find out.
take care duane give my best regards to ange the fight continues

I dont know if you remember me. My Mum lives in India and has got the same problem. She spoke to you about a year ago when she was here.Recently she developed pleural effusions which had to be drained. She has been on Tarceva. Now the doctors there are going to start Alimta. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Hi Jimmy and Deanne Have just logged in and read your post, keep your chin up as there will be something out there that will help you, as you have the will and determination to beat everything ! Can you believe it was a year last week since my Dad passed - I still log in to make sure you are all doing ok, and like you I always think that because the boards are fairly quiet everyone must be doing ok. Will be thinking about you Dawn x

Hi Ros
so glad you are in a place that you and dave loved so much, I really hope you find the life you are looking for . As for me it has been a funny few months the Tarceva stopped working in November so i ahve had no treatment since then , caught a real nasty chest infection before xmas which reaaly floored me went on holiday in january got little better but went downhill once we returned, shortness of breath now , then on saturday i started coughing up a little blood went into hospital for a day they let me out today, i have to see a professor in the next week to see about 3rd line treatment on trial. so i will jsut have to wait and see what happens apart from that i feel fine.
take care Ros

Hi Jimj/Deanne I hope this is a small setback and the 3rd line options are available to you or we will have to start campaigning again!! Just wanted to let you know I was following your progress and wishing you both well. Meant so much to me to have your support, actually meant a hell of a lot !! Keep fighting and demanding. The simple life is good. Still got my house and stuff in UK so no permanent decisions made just being. Take care Ros X Ros

Hi Jimmy, sorry to hear about the Tarceva. Good luck with your 3rd line treatment though! Without your and Deanne's fight I doubt my Mam would've had the chance to try Tarceva last year. Hope all goes well. Lee.

Hi Jim
I don't know if you remember me, both Deanne and yourself gave me fantastic support in 2007 through my Dad's battle with LC and our Trust regards the Tarceva, unfortunately losing both fights.
I've just read your post and had to drop you a mail to wish you and Deanne all the very best.
Regards, Gavin.

Hi All
Thank you all for your kind thoughts they do mean a lot. Went to see the professor on friday re the 3rd line treatment and would you believe it i became really ill whilst speaking to the professors assistant , vomiting struggling for breath etc. they immediately admitted to the new cancer wing at the freeman hospital. After various tests i was diagnosed with a severe case of bronchial pnuemonia needless to say that was a huge worry for me,deanne and all family. thay had me on a drip of antibiotics etc.after 5 days i started to feel better and as i sit and write this i have just been discharged from hospital tonight feeling the best i have done since december .still a little short of breath but pain treatment working a treat. I have an appointment next week with my onc then hopefully again with the professor i will keep you all posted

Hi Jim
Just heard via Vicky how ill you have been and therefore decided to become a member of your site. I always ask how you are doing and am worried everytime I hear how ill you are. I am pleased that you have had treatment for the pnuemonia as having had this myself I know how debilitating it can be. I am so sorry you are going through this and all the other things.
Sorry for waffling but you know me

Hi Pauline
thanks for your very kind words, as for the pnuemonia it floored me big time but i have had things going on since xmas when i caught the viral bug that was going around at the time. the hardest part is the shortness of breath but hopefully the new treatment will do its work.
