my dad was 56 years old 57 on Christmas day he passed away on 22/11/08 at 3.55p.m. he had a fight on his hands and fought to the very end. He was actually on tarceva for 3 months but unluckily the cancer spread and when he got pneumonia he could not fight anymore. I love him and miss him so much and want his memory to live on. Chris Newland was his name and he was such a wonderful man.

Hi Dawn, so sorry to hear about your Dad. My Mam passed away recently as well - November 28th. She was so brave, right til the end. Tarceva didn't work for her, and in October she had another course of radiotherapy which knocked her off her feet for a bit. She was just starting to pick up, and getting ready for another round of Chemo (Vinorelbine), when she took ill. We knew the cancer had spread to her liver and lymph nodes, but didn't know she would go downhill so rapidly. She started feeling really sick, took to her bed, then two and half weeks later died at 2.30am on 28th November. It was awful. We looked after her at home, which was THE most difficule thing I have ever done in my life. Ever. It's awful to watch someone die who is so close to you, and who was still really active just a few weeks earlier. At least it didn't drag on though. The district nursing team in South Tyneside were fabulous, as were the Macmillan nurses who provided excellent support. Christmas has been really difficult, can't stop thinking about her last few days and hours. Still haven't come to terms with it yet. Hope you're better than me! Take care, Lee x
