Hi there, anyone have any experience of the BTOG2 trial for NSCLC? My husband has just been offered this trial at his local NHS Hospital - it's a study to test the effects of 3 combinations of chemo: gemcitabine & cisplatin 80mg gemcitabine & cisplatin 50 mg gemcitabine & carboplatin This will be his first treatment so we're unsure whether going onto a trial is a good or a bad idea! The consultant says that he would have given my husband one of these combinations anyway....? Thanks, SP....

Kent had Carboplatin and Vinorlbene, as his chemo combination, but this was the standard treatment nsclc at the time.
It's a hard call regarding going on a trial.
Please keep us updated on your husband's progress

Hi just an update on this. the treatment failed to shrink or halt the growth of the tumours. In fact his NSCLC spread to his liver and adrenal glands I think which we were told in Jan 09. We were immediately advised to go onto Docetaxel he did 3 cycles of this and it has still failed to halt the diseases progression. I will be posting a bit more info about our fight for third line treatment shortly. thanks all. xx
