Hi all, Have you found yourself having to go or fund a drug private to get the care you need for yourself or a loved one? What is your position? Did you find the NHS supportive, have you had to pay the additional costs of scans, private prescriptions, consultations and follow up's? The reason I am raising this question is it seems to vary widely the care and support patients are receiving. Although we are self funding Tarceva Jimmy is still able to get follow up care, scans reviews still through the NHS. I know that other patients cannot and are been completely cut off. Meaning not only do they have to fund the drugs such as Tarceva they are also having to meet huge costs for follow up care. Please share your experiences with us so we can see what the differences are. What difference has it made going private. How are you as a patient doing? Or how is your loved one doing? The cost of the drugs seem to vary widely too depending on where you buy it we are paying £1,741 per month for Tarceva, others are paying more for the exact same drug!
Thanks Deanne x

Deanne My Dad is in the same position as Jimmy - he pays the same as you per month for Tarceva and so far he has follow-up care on NHS. They did say to Dad that they don't know if they can do that longterm and if the trust objects he will have to pay privately to see his Onc for a prescription - they havent mentioned that recently though.
