Hi Deanne and Everyone,
It's the way of the world, held things together for as long as I could and then my body started screaming at me. What I had been ignoring for months decided to let go and it hit me. Ultra sound to check gall bladder, kidneys, liver all fine. Medication prescribed for the reflux which would not abate. Pain at night got worse. i was worn out. The I remembered, the hiatus hernia, which no-one picked up on with the symtoms. The NHS lost all my medical records from overseas when the documents were being tranferred between surgeries when we moved. these records had been with me all my life, in every country of the world where we have lived and I have ALWAYS had control of them, until I handed them over for care here in England and of course in the records is the endoscopy report, with the hiatus hernia, but at the time, nothing was done about, because it was not worrying me. I am noe having to go private to have another endoscopy because I think it has started rolling and not just sliding. Another new loocum GP to contend with the other night, of course English is not his first language, so he misunderstood everything I was saying, I have to admit I was furious and in pain, he told me I was dealing with NHS and I could not demand an endoscopy and he was going to up my medication dosage. I was livid. i have been in pain for over four months now, to be told, chest wall traume, wear a bra to bed, of if you have a history of gall bladder problems in the fmaily we will get it checked out, here's somne anit biotics and wait for the appointment for the ultra sound, full b lood test done in the meantime ESR etc, well really if I am no antibiotics, excuse me isn't the ESR useless? Get a phone call to make an urgent appointment at the surgery, why, you blood test results are back. I was in mood to play this game, requested the doctor ring me instead. High cholerstoral, 6.5, This was red rag to a bull, I have this GP with a very thick accent telling I have to change my lifestyle...ummm one minute have you read my notes..could it be higher because I am in pain? Yes he conceded. Have had another blood test and in two weeks cholestrol dropped to 4.3 and no life style changes made.. oh I digress..I can have an endoscopy if I go private, he raises his eyebrows and tell him the gastroenterologist I want to see. He still hasn't read my notes thoroughly. this boy will learn a few things about me in the coming weeks.
He even made the remark that Kent should be seeing him for his cough.....I glared and hissed, he has lung cancer. I am not sure he belived me. Kent is looking skeletal.
So here I am waiting for my appointment with the consultant for an endoscopy to be done privately.
Oh went down last night for our flu shots and the practice nurse are laughing, the GP walks past and Jackie winks at me. I am feeling better, now I am being more careful about bending and eating smaller meals more frequently, only thing is, I still haven't lost weight.
