Hi Harriet
Just like to welcome you to the site. I would also like to say what a wonderful poem you have wrote for your DAD i can quite imagine he cried when you read it as i had tears in my eyes when i read it . Your dad will be really proud of you.
There will always be someone on here to offer you advice or you can just have a chat in general about anything you like. You may want to get something off your mind.Feel free to ask question you want we will always answer you honestly. Stay strong.

Hi Harriet
I have read your question, which we briefly talked about today, hopefully it was of some consolation and answered some of your questions. It's natural for someone who has not experienced this to ask the questions you have going around in your mind. You may not feel you should ask your mom at this time such questions but you must know that you can always talk to your mom, myself or your uncle Niall (who lost his brother at a young age) at any time. We love you very much sweetheart, big hugs & kisses, your ever loving aunt Lisa xxxxxxxxxx

Harriet,
It is scary. Things are happening around you and you have not control over these. Your mind just doesn't stop. Your aunt Lisa has most probably explained things to you regarding cremation. I am sure when I was your age, I usd to wonder about the same thing. it's not knowing what happens, once you know, things are easier for you.
You Dad will be with your forever. You will carry him in your heart. Perhaps you can buy a rose plant in your Dad's favourite colour and you can talk to this rose. I planted a bright yellow rose, the same colour as my youngest stepson's smile, his smile lit up the room. This rose blooms the brightest in our garden, we call it Neil's rose, this way he is always us in the garden. I have one of the buds in vase on my desk as I type this. When Neil died for his funeral, we had his coffin covered in bright yellow roses. Neil was 7'2" tall, he was not quite 21 and at the local hotel on a Wednesday, they has free drinkls for any male game enought o dress as a woman, so Neil enjoyed Wednesday nights. His mates asked if his dress could put in his coffin. Why not? This was part of Neil's life. We wanted everyone who knew Neil to share this one last time with him. I am so glad Neil didn't want a sky burial. It would have been cold trekking to Nepal with him.

Hi Harriet
Well phillipa has explained in the best way possible. Cremation is quite an emotional time , Friends or family will possibly get up and speak about things that person has done throughout their life mostly funny stuff and what kind of person they were like . There will then be a gathering afterwards for family and friends who again will reminice about the person who has died, Some people find it strange that people are laughing but this will be people telling funny stories about the person who has died so it will be quite natural. Afterwards people are left with their own thoughts and memories. Hope this helps you a little.
Take Care

Harriet
Your dad will be with you always, you can still talk to him and tell him you love him, I'm sure wherever he is he will still be there for you. My Dad died many years ago now but I still have conversations with him and tell him my news, I'm sure he hears me. Nobody will ever replace him and your good memories will help you through the next days, weeks, months until it becomes easier to smile again. Love to all your family Ros X

Harriet
This is such a hard time for you now I will not even begin to try and understand what you are going through. I lost my dad 8 years ago and it was hard for me. what i will say is that you will have your great memories of your dad . Nobody will ever replace him. As Ros says you can talk to your dad at anytime. You also have your mum and the rest of your family going through the same emotions you will all find the love and comfort for each other i can only hope that in time the hurt becomes wiil ease a little. We are here anytime for you if you want to scream , shout, chat or just let your emotions out.
take care

hi harriet,
i have never posted on this site before, i'm deanne and jimmys daughter danielle, even though i dont come on the site much my mam keeps me up to date with regards to the people she speaks to on here. I read ur poem last week, it was amazing, it really touched my heart. i cannot begin to tell you how sorry i am to hear about your dear dad, im not really sure what to post but just felt like i had to write something after reading some of your past posts. I know your dad would have been so proud of you, thats what dads are like, and dont you let yourself forget that. You are so young to have to deal with something like this but things will get easier with time, no matter how you may feel now or over the next few weeks/months. Your dad will always be with you and i hope you can find some comfort in knowing that, you and your family need to be there for each other at this time......i know it has been said in a past post but if you feel like you need to let anything out but feel you have no one to talk to or anything you want to ask , people on this site are all here for you to offer support, some things you may not be able to talk about with your family....you dont have to go through this on your own.
Not sure it will make you feel better at this time hunni, but try and think of the good times you and your dad shared, and all the fond memories you have of him, and that may bring a huge smile to your face.....and make you feel just that little bit better..
thinking of you danielle xxxxx
