Hello. So far am scheduled to start first treatment of Carbo/Taxol next Tues. Any suggestions for first day? What to eat? What to expect? I would be a fool to say I am not scared but I sure am. But this has been a long time coming with a lot of setbacks and hopefully now I can get some treatment. Have Adenocarcinoma of Lung. Stage IIIB w/pleural effusion. So far as I know treatment will be every 3wks. They want me in Tues morn and say they may do first treatment that day. Would love to hear how first days usually goes. I know everyone is different but thought there were some basic things to know. Thanks everyone.

My Dad had Gem/Carbo and he was ok - he had to take ant-nausea pills and steroids but he coped well considering he is 76. His chemo cycle was a 3 wk cycle too. He felt a little flat mid-cycle but was generally fine and picked up in time for the next treatment. The Hospital told my Dad to drink plenty of water and fluids to flush his system and just to eat whatever he fancied when he fancied !! Dad had a pleural effusion too - that seemed to dissipate of its own accord once he started on Tarceva. I will be thinking about you - I'm delighted that they are going to start you asap. Keep up the fighting spirit !! We are all here for you. Love Dawn x

Hi Sparky3, prob a bit late wi this post but it may help somebody else. my wife had Docetaxyl, 6 treatments 3 weeks apart, no bad side effects but due to previous cistoplatin/wilvoberene chemo she knew about more expensive and only get if u ask antisickness called Kitril (i think) which seemed to work for her. Apart from tiredness for the next few days she was fine, even thinking of work by the third week. Downside was that her hair did go, she getting it cut for the first time this week. Her taxyl started January2008. As I say, will have gone through it by now, hope it wasnt too bad. Maybe help somebody else, goodluck.
