Hi all, Since returning from my holiday I have had numerous emails from patients and carers still having problems getting access to Tarceva even though Roche has introduced TAP. I am putting together a list and am going to forward this onto MP, If you are reading this can you let me know if you are also having problems getting access so I can add your name and send it to My MP. It is sickening that PCT's are still denying their patients Tarceva even though the cost has been reduced to fall in line with Docetaxol. They have always said it is not about money when it clearly is. My belief that their fear is how long is a piece of string! In otherwords how long will they have to give it to the patient. The body can only tolerate docetaxol for a short period where as Tarceva is if works could be a long term thing. Hopefully NICE will have a decision soon. After speaking to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer foundation the other day I was made aware that an appraisal has taken place and they said a decision within ten days! Having said that, I attended the appeal hearing in June at the NICE offices and they sad we would have a decision within 3 weeks!!!! And we are still waiting to we will see! Lets hope they see sense this time!!!!!!!!
