Hi Daisey, Been reading through your diary about Bob, I just wanted to say thanks for sharing and welcome to this site. I am sorry that you have to be here at all but hope you are finding some strength and comfort here. You are not alone we are all here to offer you support. Day 8. 150mg taken a.m. Well, the rash began last night. Nothing to awful (yet!!! ) Mainly on Bobs neck and a small area on his back. Pre-armed with steroid cream from the GP. which seems to have calmed a few areas on the face that looked threatening. Bob felt ok when he got up but developed some pain in his chest when he moved as the day went on. Breathing somewhat laboured on exertion. Nothing very extreme, or so says my stoic husband! Had emergency appointment with his GP at 5 pm who prescribed anti-biotics (some noise from the left lung (thats the "good one") and more pain killers. The GP asked me "what are the side affects off Tarceva ?. I told him. He asked "what are you meant to do in case of breathing problems etc." I told hime...."it says, see your GP!". He said "can't keep up with all these new drugs". I do recognise a GP can have a problem with that area BUT we did see him a week ago, he did know what drug Bob was on etc.etc. Is there a wall handy I can bang my head on! Bob now in bed asleep, on anti-biotics and dosed up with pain killers. I have no idea if this is anything to do with Tarceva or not. Could be totally unconnected or could be a symptom of of the original? I will phone his Oncologist tomorrow. Looks like the night shift again! Daisey x

Hi Deanne, thankyou for your good wishes. Hope you had a brill time away from all of this!
Wendy, have large family but they're nealy all busy with careers and growing familes and live quite a space away. One daughter is especially caring though. She phones everyday and visits when she can. Daisey x
Day 11 (I think). Scared to sleep last night (in the spare room) in case Bob had any more problems but although he was restless he managed to doze off now and then. 150 mg taken am. Bob would not let me phone the Oncologist! I think he is so worried he will be admitted to hospital. He took pain killers and rested. Temperature mid pm but then felt better as the day went on. Using steroid cream for the rash. Seems to help a lot. Hope this doesn't happen to often! Is it the body getting used to the drug? Daisey.

Hi Daisey Saw my oncologist Monday who every time I see him tells me to contact straight away if I have any problems. He's the one who kept an eye on the Tarceva and said when and if I needed to stop it for a while. How's his temp. now? I do feel so much for you both and yes you do feel like banging your head sometimes. I hope you both managed some sleep as a good night does a power of good. Wendyxx

Much better nights sleep-for both of us! No pain killers last night, temperature gone. Day 12. 150 mg taken. No PK at all today. Face flushed, especially nose and a slight rash on the nose. General improvement all round really thank heavens apart from Bob appetite which is a bit "off".
Feel human today Wendy! We slept for 8 hours, bliss! Daisey.x

Thanks everyone! All your "good vibes" certainly help!
Day 14. 150 mg taken. Rash worse on nose/neck. We are using a steroid cream (eumovate). Does anyone know of anything more effective for this please? Appetite not so good still. Lots of sneezing unfortunately which has hurt his ribs so on PK today for that. Bob says he feel "quite fluey" but "sort of ok" most of the time. Both sleeping much better.
Given what I've read and touching wood, I think Bobs tolerating it pretty well. Will the body handle it better with time I wonder? Daisey.xx

Hi Daisey When Bob sneezes has he tried putting a pillow round his tummy area? Sounds daft but I was shown by a physio and it helps. Glad to hear you're both sleeping better. Wishing you another good night love Wendyxx

Day 15. 150 mg taken a.m. PK last night due to pain in upper chest area. Mild PK today but still has some pain. This does not seem to be related to Bobs lungs, or breathing. Phoning onc tomorrow! Could be the sneezing. Rash getting slightly worse but tolerable (touching wood!).
Will try your tip with the pillow Wendy Hope you're getting plenty of sleep as well! Take care. love Daisey x

Hi Daisey, I have included the link to the rash page on the front of the site, it states what Jimmy has found helpful along with other patients. www.lc-action4life.co.uk/tarcevarash.htm The chest pain could well be stress related but best to get it checked out. Take care Deanne xxx

Hi Daisey Just an add on to the pillow thing! I sneeze a LOT so wrap my arms around myself.like abig hug as pillows aren't always available are they? Isn't this site just so good? Bravo Deanne...where on earth would we all be without you? Sitting in our own houses, feeling all alone, thinking no-one out there cared. Here's wishing you another good nights sleep and a painfree one at that! love Wendy

Thanks Deanne and Wendy. So good to get sound advice, hints and tips etc. Its really difficult sometimes as symptoms seem to change quite a lot, daily at present almost! Bob had a much better day today. Pain much better but I have also made sure he has taken his medication properly and every 4 hours! Got my whip out!!! Daisey xx
Day 15. 150 mg taken am. Pain better controlled. Slept ok. Rash worse on neck but less so on face. Using a stronger steroid cream for face. The rash seems to peak about 2-6 hours after taking the Tarceva. Appetite better today.

Morning Daisey How are things going for both of you, continuing to improve I hope? Has Bob managed to get out any more and how's his appetite now? Hope things keep getting better and that your sleep patterns become more normal, makes you start to feel human again and less like a patient doesn't it? Love and hugs to you both WendyXX

Hi all, Hope you had a good weekend too? My daughter and family came from London and stayed 2 nights. brilliant to see them all. They don't know how much their visits mean right now, the grandchildren especially are so adorable and really take us out of ourselves! Very lucky to have them all.
Nearly 3 weeks Tarceva now. Still on 150mg. Rash about the same. Neck, back moderate. Face mild-moderate. Using steroid cream still. PKs at night and mild pks in the day. Still quite fatigued . Appetite odd. Bob is eating fairly small amounts and can't face vegtables but he actually feels "sort of empty" in his tum and therefore hungry? Anyone come across this please? The sneezing has stopped. Sleeping quite well really.
Good night to you, each day means so much doesn't it. Love Daisey x
