my husband has been suffering now with nsclc and i have posted previously for info and a chat. We have little at the mo to hold on to and Geoff appears to be getting worse every day he was diagnosed in March and has been battling an infection every since the cancer is in the plural cavity and of course he is in a lot of pain and the fentyln patch sends him very sleepy. His Macmillan nurse has asked him to go into a local hospice for a week to be monitored i am really scared and very irrational. His pain seems to be moving all around his upper body and shoulder especially the left side where the cancer is, is this normal and how long would we be expected to wait before chemo and what will be happening inside while we are waiting i have been told this type of cancer can be very aggressive. hello elsa,

I have only just joined the site tonight. I don't really know how to manouvre about yet but saw your post and I can relate to it. Paul my husband was diagnosed on 18th june 2007 following the removal of a brain tumour that he had nsclc stage 4 in his left lung. From the x-rays and scans I believe it to be near the base of the lung. It has spread through the lymph glands and blood to the bones so a lung operation was not possible. He has had chemotherapy which did not help and made him very unwell as he suffers from extreme nausea due to the part of the brain where his tumour was debulked. Radiotherapy to the head and lungs seem to have been the most successful but now we are running out of options. We see the oncologist tomorrow about the tarceva drug which I researched last year and mentioned right from the start. He is being offered it due to the fact that he has never smoked. He is 44 years old. I have been caring for him from May 2007 and I am really beginning to feel the strain with no support from his family who are in total denial. We are both christians and our faith helps tremendously. If you feel like a chat I usually am on the internet each night, what else is there to do? I will definately be using this site as we will need some support with the drug. Much love, Kimx
